Last Sunday we began our series, āGiving it upā with a teaching from Genesis 22 on the first Sunday of Lent. We asked the question what are you giving up? Many of you responded ⦠the list below reflects what we as a faith community are giving up.
I give up doubting God and his sovereignty.
I give up hard alcohol.
I give up my plans, my health struggle, my idea of what I think the Lord wants for me.
I give up late nights.
We are giving up the physical aspect of our relationship.
I give up sweets.
I am giving up sleep in the morning in order to start my day in more worship, prayer, and scripture.
I give up red wine.
I give up wine and sleep. Iām committing to getting up at 6 am every morning to be in His presence, consider his sacrifice, pray about my response.
I give up TV.
I give up Starbucks.
I give up my expectations for a romantic relationship.
I give up worry.
I give desserts.
I am trying to give up worry.
I'm giving up Starbucks as my sacrifice for the next 50 days.
We gave up the time wasted in front of the tv by cancelling cable.
