DCC Prayer Calendar
Throughout the week we will follow a calendar. Each day of the week has its own theme, which leads from Worship, Awe, and Wonder to Rest. Everyday we will read Scripture, spend time in reflection, and conclude our time of prayer with a prayer, a poem, a thought, or liturgy. As we pray through the weekly calendar we move as a faith community from self-centeredness to self-surrender, asking God to teach us who he is and who we are as his people.

Our world has become a place of rest. This day arrives to us like a guide, And so we ask Father that you would raise our minds above our accustomed thoughts. We rest in you and worship you. Send out your rest over our city, into our homes, and into our hearts. We praise you for this time, a resurrection of the dormant spirit in our souls.

God's Work Through Us

Thursday, January 14

Scripture

Ephesians 2.1-10

Time of Reflection and Prayer

Spend time reflecting on what you have read and communing with God.

Benediction

God, you have put flesh on our bones and animate us anew each day with your Spirit. You infuse us with hope and with purpose. Show us how to use our life as a wind tunnel for your life-giving Spirit, which is even now blowing into us. May we be a breezeway of your presence for the people in our community, a dwelling place for You to inhale and to exhale. Would our neighbors, our families, our coworkers, and those who are more foe than friend experience life because of the life You breathe into us.

God's Work in Us

Wednesday, January 13

Scripture

Romans 12

Time of Reflection and Prayer

Spend time reflecting on what you have read and communing with God.

Benediction

Make us like you, Lord, my Savior. Our desire is to be like you. Our own inadequacies and our failing to follow through with all my good intentions frustrate us. Encourage us when we become discouraged and make us aware of your presence. Thank you for your love and forgiveness; without which we would be lost. Walk with us today as we grow into the person you created us to be. With your help we can achieve much, without you we are impotent. Develop our mind to be like yours as we meditate on your words. Make us like you, Lord our Savior. Amen.
