Justice, “to make right” is a central theme woven into the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures. Today, it is a much-used word and concept in the broader world, perhaps as Theodore Parker famously said, “I do not pretend to understand the moral universe. The arc is a long one. My eye reaches but little ways … And from what I see I am sure it bends toward justice.” How do we come to understand the meaning of this concept? Participate in creating a more just world? Understand its broad reaching implications? There is much to learn and contemplate when it comes to making things right. Surely, there is undoing and there is doing. And the more we understand all these things, the more we may come to believe our universe does bend toward justice.
